Tyson boasts one of the best showjumping records of any stallion worldwide. A fantastic jumper, the Tyson has always been a remarkable horse. His success began at a young age with him winning the prestigious VION Cup competition in Holland as a six year old and again as a seven year old. International stardom soon followed under his regular partner Leon Thijssen; together they met all expectations set out for them and achieved top results in Grand Prix and Nations Cup competitions.
Tyson is noted for his strong character, extremely athletic canter and his lightning-quick reflexes over jumps. Tyson was a regular member of the Dutch A-team and was selected as the first reserve for the London Olympics.
Looking at his pedigree, it soon becomes apparent as to where Tyson’s outstanding qualities were inherited.
His sire is the world renowned Numero Uno – a top source of quality performance horses. After a successful competition career with European Champion Marco Kutscher, Numero Uno rapidly became one of the world’s leading sires, having produced champions in ability tests, stallion approvals and International showjumping competitions right from his first crop.
Tyson’s damline is equally impressive; his dam Kicky Queen, an Elite Sport mare is sired by the legendary Voltaire. She is a sister to the international performers, Nirvana 1.60 Annet Willems (NED), This Lux 1.45 Victoria Tachet (FRA), Zandor 1.40 Ferry Wahyu (INA) and Calgary 1.40 Emiel Richter (NED)
Tyson’s grand-dam, First Lady, who is sired by Wisconsin (a son of the highly influential Nimmerdor) forms the base of this highly successful performance family. In addition to her top performing offspring, her daughters further highlight the strength and depth in the family; Lady Queen is the dam of the KWPN approved stallion Tadmus who competed up to1.60 level with John Whitaker; Olympic Queen has produced the KWPN approved stallion Edinburgh who is competing at 1.40 level and Pearl Queen is the dam of Athane, a 1.40 competitor and the approved Wesfphailian stallion Thagoras.
And now, with his older children reaching 1.60mt level success and many special youngsters making their mark in Europe, we don’t have any doubt that Tyson is a top class reliable stallion.
His first foals in Ireland turned 4 in 2021, and the age classes were dominated by Tyson children in all the major classes, Dublin, Cavan, Barnadown and more. We are excited for that lies ahead!

Progeny
2019 saw Tyson stamp his dominance as a highly desirable sire of modern jumpers. He sired the Breeders Champion in the RDS 2019, and the Horse Sport Ireland champion foal 2019, along with the All Ireland Colt foal champion. His foals at the sales again topped all the Irish based sires, at the elite auction in Cavan. This is no surprise; as since Tyson’s first crop of Irish bred foals made headlines when they hit the sales rings in 2017. He was the only stallion standing at stud in Ireland to be represented in the Supreme Sale of Foals in Barnadown at the breeders classic sale, with
a colt foal bred by Patrick Connolley selling for 16,000 euros. In 2018 Tyson foals made headlines again! Producing the Champion Filly in the prestigious Horse Sport Ireland Eventing Championship and also the reserve champion at the RDS Breeders Classic. This is a strong statement as to the quality of his foals for future performance.
Following on from this Tyson was also the leading Irish based sire in foal prices at both Goresbridge and Cavan Autumn sales.
Due to his busy competition schedule, Tyson has only covered a small number of mares during his breeding career so far; however one of his first products, Tyson Uno, is currently competing successfully up to 1.55 level with his young British rider James Smith, while Ginger Ale,(Albert Voorn) Thunder GZ (Michael Duffy)and That’s Me (Hendrix Stables) all breaking into the international level sport!
