Montender
KWPN 1994 Dark Brown 1.74m

Montender has outstanding conformation, and is always ready to work.

He is a direct son of the top sire Contender out of a Burggraaf mare who competed successfully on the 1.30m to 1.35m jumping courses. His grand dam is by Le Mexico. He is from the dam line of 032.

At the age of 4 Montender won the young horse jumping competition for KWPN horses at CSI Geesteren (NL). He was the most successful 4 year old sport horse in the Netherlands. As a 5 and 6 year old he won many jumping classes at the shows. He had his first international success at the 1.50m level jumping courses when he was 7 years old.

At 8 years of age he had high placings in the Hamburg Derby and at Aachen. No horse this young had ever reached this level.

When Montender was 10 years old he competed in the 2004 Olympic games in Athens. He jumped over 2 separate courses with no mistakes. He received team gold and a bronze for individual competition. He was voted the best jumping horse at the Athen Olympic games. He was ranked 5th in the world standings that year and nominated for the KWPN-Sport Horse of the year in 2004.

In 2005 Montender won the silver medal in the German jumping championships in Verden, and became the double European master. He was again nominated KWPN horse of the year in 2005.

Montender has had limited use for breeding, but the experts appreciate the high genetic value of this stallion. His offspring have above average movement, great jumping ability and a very good character. His offspring are very promising and are in high demand.

He has 2 approved Westphalian sons- Monte Bellini and Montendro. Both finished the stallion approval tests with very high scores. Monte Bellini won the Bundeschampion for 5 year old jumping horses, he now jumps in the Global Champions Tour.

His daughter Mya Mercedes (Montender x Florestan) received very high scores in jumping and was nominated a state Premium score. She is now in training with an international dressage rider.

The breeding value of Montender can already be seen in the success of his very limited offspring.
